Basic
Function of the Position: The position is located in the Library of Congress
office, U.S. Embassy New Delhi, under the supervision of the Chief of
Acquisitions Division (Supervisory Librarian), who rates, and the Director
and Deputy Field Director, who review, the incumbent’s performance. The
incumbent will receive and complete the initial processing of thousands of
incoming publications in English and 30 South Asian languages, and update
statistical data. S/he will place and/or approve purchase orders in the
Overseas Field Office Replacement System (OFORS) for publications for the
collections of the Library of Congress (Washington) and 55 American,
Canadian, and British universities who participate in the Library’s South
Asia Cooperative Acquisitions Program (SACAP). S/he will acquire
research-quality publications by conducting local acquisitions trips and
establishing and maintaining contacts with non-commercial bibliographic
sources. The incumbent will perform special bibliographic services for
Indian institutional libraries, the Library of Congress, and SACAP
participants. The incumbent will be required to perform other duties as
assigned by the agency. |
